A Journey of Resilience Set along the coastal belt of Jaffna town, Porattam explores the unique lifestyle, struggles, and aspirations of a fishing community shaped by hardship and resilience. Featuring debut actor Baskaran Regan as the lead, the film follows Miller, a talented young footballer born into a fisherman's family, who loses his father at an early age and grows up burdened by responsibility far beyond his years. Guided by his advisor Kumar, Miller dreams of selection for the national football team. However, life begins to close in from all directions. A failed love affair, mounting debts faced by his sister, repeated failures in team selection, and the tragic loss of his drug-addicted brother slowly dismantle his emotional and mental strength. At his lowest point, desperation forces Miller to consider leaving the country illegally—abandoning his dreams, his identity, and everything he stands for. Porattam is the story of how Miller confronts these struggles, reclaims his purpose, and ultimately fights his way back.
